Heterosexual/Homosexual
Lately, straight people have been bashed by the LGBT community as well. People are getting cocky(not saying that heterosexual people aren’t cocky too…)
I believe it’s the uprising in support for same sex couples.
(I myself am not straight, so please don’t call me ‘homophobic’)
which brings me to another point
Just because someone doesn’t support homosexuality, or doesn’t like it, doesn’t mean they’re homophobic. It’s when they insult/degrade/bash a person due to the fact that they’re gay that we have a problem.
Male/Female
Here, I’m talking about the extreme feminists/extreme misogynists
Women, please, for fuck’s sake, do not wish for a man to be castrated/raped/neutered.
Men, please…Women have grown out of the era where we ‘stay in the kitchen/stay home/take care of the children’. There are a lot of women who prefer to get jobs, help support their family, and contribute to society by getting jobs. It should not be the man’s job to bring home the pay check. With the wife bringing one home too, hey more money! Also, both: The opposite sex is not a sex object. No gender is a sex object. The human body is not a sex object. Stop treating it as such.
Tumblr/tumblr gay shippers
For fuck’s sake, do you listen to yourselves when you say ‘make heterosexuality illegal’
…Just think over that.
This one last topic:
Anyone can rape. Anyone. And it’s still fucking serious.
Men can rape women.Women can rape men.Women can rape women.Men can rape men.
Not saying that they should, but It’s just as important/serious. I’ve seen arguments saying it’s not as mentally/physically damaging if a man is raped, or he’s ‘gay’ because he didn’t enjoy it, or that he’s ‘weak’ because a woman ‘overpowered’ him.
Just stop.
Rape is serious. Okay? Okay.
But please, can we all just practice some empathy before we start arguments/bashing? We all have different opinions. Just ‘take a step in the other person’s shoes’.
We shouldn’t act like a bag of dicks. Seriously.
(Also, I would like to point out that I’m not straight and support gay marriage, but hetero people exist and is the ‘norm’, as they say, and I’m alright with that. Anyone hating on anybody won’t make them any better)

I like how this is one of the ONLY things I have seen on Tumblr today that makes sense and isn’t just “Hurrr, straight white male privilege,” yet it doesn’t even get a quarter of reposts or likes than any of that dribble. Everyone just needs to stfu, grow up, and get along.

Stop making it a “us vs. them” thing we all need to stand together for equality.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
Right?
But it’s not about “the straights must stand together” or “the LGBT community must stand together.”
We have to define our house before we can stand for it.
We define our house by our community, our people, (our fandom, for some).
So when we fight for equality, what house are we standing for?
I for one fight for the house of the human race and the only ones I oppose are the ones that threaten such house.
(That’s not to say some areas of the house do not need more support. They do, and it is our job to provide that support. But if we only support one side of the house and then call the other side our enemy, we have just divided our house. That is not equality, that is civil war of the human race.)

Numbers stations are mysterious shortwave radio channels of indiscernible origin that exist in countries all across the world and have been reported since World War 1. They are identifiable by the unusual contents of their broadcasts: seemingly random sequences of numbers, words, letters, tunes, and Morse code, usually spoken by artificially generated voices of women and children.

The most common theory regarding the purpose of these bizarre stations is that they’re used by governments the world over to secretly transmit encrypted commands and messages to spies. That said, even though numbers stations have been discovered all over the globe and in any number of different languages, no government has ever officially acknowledged their existence. While the espionage theory is a logical one, with no official confirmation of their purpose the jury is still out.

One particularly odd station, UVB-76, has existed since the late 1970s and has broadcast a simple, repetitive buzzing tone 24 hours a day ever since. On very rare occasions, however, listeners have reported a Russian voice interrupting the buzz to read out sequences of numbers and words, always in a consistent format — this happened once in 1997, once in 2002, once in 2006, 56 times in 2010, and 14 in 2011. As with all numbers stations, its true purpose is and will probably remain unknown, but the increase in frequency of whatever it’s doing is certainly odd.

You can listen to well over 100 recordings of numbers stations for free on archive.org but be forewarned that they’re all kind of, well, eerie. They feel like something you shouldn’t be listening to, which stands to reason since apparently you’re not supposed to know they exist.

As an old-school Trek fan, I am so fed up of the irrational hatred a few of the fans show towards the reboot.

(I wanted to do a public reply, but I blanked out the icon and name to protect the person sending the ask, because sometimes people on tumblr send vicious hate mail to try and bully others into conforming to the bullies’ likes and hates, and I don’t want to even take the risk of someone lovely getting any flak from any bullies over a simple and perfectly valid question.)

You are not too sentimental at all, it’s natural that it hurts so much when we see something we love being bashed by insensitive people.

It hurts even more when they are people whom we followed because they behaved civilized when it comes to the things they enjoy, and then later found out that they act utterly hostile and unfairly when it comes to things we like.

This is a very large and old fandom, which is lovely and has so many wonderful people in it, but unfortunately it also has a lot of self-centered self-entitled people who hate anything new and also like to bash anything other people like that they disagree with.
And unfortunately, some of them are so selfish that they think that their own opinions are so much more important than those of everyone else in the world, and that anything they like is automatically better. It’s the only possible reason to explain why some of them think it’s perfectly okay to violently bash anything they disagree with, not giving a damn about the fact that the majority of the fandom actually loves the reboot.
(Counting both local and international box offices, the 2009 movie did great and STID is the Star Trek movie that did the most money ever, bringing in much bigger international sales than Star Trek used to.
They are both beloved of the public and the critics alike. The hatred the reboot, especially STID, gets from a few parts of the fandom is utterly unfair.)

This tendency to bullying and hatred is a long term thing in this fandom, sadly.
When TNG first started, some of the extreme TOS fans were so furious by how different it was from it, that they actually tried to get TNG cancelled. It was Trek, alive and on TV again, and yet those people who would have called themselves Trek fans, were trying to destroy it, destroy Trek in general, because it was a newer incarnation that didn’t conform exactly to what the haters wanted.
They failed, of course, and TNG grew more and more and became something that’s now classic. But with each new incarnation of Trek, some fans of the previous incarnations reacted by hating on it, bashing it, trying to force others to conform to that hatred also, and so on.

And now, the same types of haters turn to the reboot for their fix of bashing the latest Star Trek thing.
